Food and Nutrition

Cats are carnivores, their digestive system can only process meat, so foods rich in cereals will quite literally go in one end and straight out the other!

Many of the commercial foods and supermarket brands contain high levels of cereal which is has no nutritional value to a cat thus leading to loose stools, poor skin and coat conditions, and other health issues.

Buying a cheaper brand also doesn’t necessarily mean that it is cheaper for your pocket, by filling products full of cereal it means you often have to feed more which in the long run works out more expensive.

The more Natural Premium Foods containing high levels of meat requires you to feed less because the ingredients are high grade and nutritionally digestable.

When checking food labels, the first ingredient should be meat.  Be very wary about food labels showing ‘meat and animal derivatives’  as this can mean absolutely anything from any animal.

These products can also contain non-nutritious ingredients such as cereal with is nothing more than a filler and because the ingredients are not fully explained, you will often find that the levels of ingredients can change, hence sometimes your cat will love the food then it just doesn’t like it anymore.

Just because a food has become a household name doesn’t mean that it is necessarily a good quality food for your Cat – it just often means that it has the biggest advertising budget which has been gained from using cheap and inexpensive ingredients.
